The United Arab Emirates and The Sultanate of Oman are mentioned together since the countries are adjacent on the Arabian peninsula. Musandam, the most Northern part of Oman is actually not physically connected to the rest of Oman but separated by the UAE.
Both countries are rich in heritage and beautiful nature. The Hajar mountain range runs North to South through both countries, the both have vast areas of sandy desert, and a fascinating underwater world. The main language in both countries is Arabic and the main religion is Islam.
Musandam, the East coast of the UAE (Fujairah), and the rest of Oman lie at the Gulf of Oman, which is part of the Indian ocean. The biodiversity underwater is quite incredible, alone more than 300 different types of nudibranchs have been identified.
